Performance evaluation of the hot nitrogen huff-and-puff pilot test indicates that, beyond nitrogen's inherent benefits of expansion energy enhancement and water cone suppression, the heat carried by high-temperature nitrogen effectively counteracts the endothermic effects of nitrogen expansion during production. The technology is well-suited for heavy oil wells with conventional production capacity, and its ability to increase oil output while reducing costs is becoming evident. Once injected, heated nitrogen reduces viscosity and enhances energy, improving near-wellbore oil mobility. Lower crude viscosity also improves nitrogen permeability, further expanding the sweep volume.

The combined percolation of heat and nitrogen removes wax and blockages while facilitating drainage, minimizing cold damage to the reservoir. Higher injection pressure reduces the viscosity of gas-charged crude oil, inhibiting wax precipitation. Consequently, well productivity is enhanced, given that hot nitrogen achieves a larger sweep range than steam with the same heat content.
